  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup vinegar (as a substitute for Worcestershire sauce)
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp BBQ sauce
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke

Instructions

  1. Slice beef into thin strips (¼ inch thick) against the grain for tenderness.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, vinegar, honey, and BBQ sauce; whisk until blended.
  3. Stir in smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes (if using), and liquid smoke.
  4. Place beef strips in a resealable bag or dish; pour marinade over them. Seal and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  5. Dry with a dehydrator or oven at low temperature (about four hours) until desired chewiness is achieved.
