  • 45 pounds beef brisket
  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the brisket and rub it with smoked paprika, cumin, black pepper, and salt.
  2. Sauté onions in oil over medium heat until golden brown (15-20 minutes), then add minced garlic for another 2-3 minutes.
  3. Layer caramelized onions in a slow cooker or Dutch oven and place the seasoned brisket on top.
  4. Mix brown sugar, soy sauce, beef broth, and apple cider vinegar; pour over the brisket.
  5. Cook on low for 8-10 hours (slow cooker) or at 300°F for 3-4 hours (oven) until tender.
  6. Let rest for 20 minutes before shredding and serving.
