- 1 lb beef flank steak (or skirt steak)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon light soy sauce (or tamari)
- 1 teaspoon peanut oil
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon light soy sauce (or tamari)
- 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 white onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1 thumb ginger, sliced
- 1 lb asparagus, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Marinate thinly sliced beef with baking soda, light soy sauce, peanut oil, and cornstarch for about 10 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix chicken broth, oyster sauce, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar to create the sauce.
- Heat peanut oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add marinated beef and sear until browned; remove from pan.
- In the same skillet, sauté onions for about two minutes until translucent. Add garlic and ginger; cook for one more minute.
- Add asparagus and sauté for one minute until tender-crisp.
- Pour the prepared sauce into the skillet; stir until thickened (about two minutes).
- Return beef to the skillet; combine everything well and heat through before serving.
