  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon light soy sauce (or tamari)
  • 1 teaspoon peanut oil
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon light soy sauce (or tamari)
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 white onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1 thumb ginger, sliced
  • 1 lb asparagus, cut into bite-sized pieces

Instructions

  1. Marinate thinly sliced beef with baking soda, light soy sauce, peanut oil, and cornstarch for about 10 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, mix chicken broth, oyster sauce, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar to create the sauce.
  3. Heat peanut oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add marinated beef and sear until browned; remove from pan.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté onions for about two minutes until translucent. Add garlic and ginger; cook for one more minute.
  5. Add asparagus and sauté for one minute until tender-crisp.
  6. Pour the prepared sauce into the skillet; stir until thickened (about two minutes).
  7. Return beef to the skillet; combine everything well and heat through before serving.
