Method
Prepare the Batter
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the apple cider until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Bake the Cake
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the Glaze
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and apple cider until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled pound cake before serving.
