Ingredients

Meatball Mixture
  • 1 lb ground beef preferably 80/20
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs preferably Italian seasoned
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp parsley fresh, chopped
  • 1 tbsp basil dried
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
Sauce
  • 2 cups marinara sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for cooking

Method

Prepare the Meatball Mixture
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, parsley, basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet.
Cook the Meatballs
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, cooking until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.
  2. Transfer the browned meatballs to a plate and set aside.
Simmer in Sauce
  1. In the same skillet, add marinara sauce and bring to a simmer. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer for 20 minutes until cooked through.
  2. Check the internal temperature of the meatballs; it should reach 160°F (71°C).
Serve
  1. Serve the meatballs hot over pasta or on their own, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and parsley if desired.
