- In a saucepan, heat milk over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
- Gradually whisk in the cornmeal, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Continue stirring and cooking until the mixture thickens, about 5–7 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in butter and salt until well blended.
- Let the mixture cool slightly. Beat in eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 35–40 minutes or until golden and set in the center.
- Serve warm straight from the dish.
