Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, beat 0.5 cup unsalted butter until smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes.
  2. Gradually add 2 cups powdered sugar, starting on low speed then increasing to medium-high until fully mixed.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons heavy cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 0.25 teaspoon almond extract. Beat until fluffy and smooth.
  4. Adjust consistency: add a teaspoon of cream if too thick or 1 tablespoon powdered sugar if too thin.
  5. Tint with gel food coloring as desired and mix until evenly colored.
