  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1 shot espresso or strong coffee or 1/4 cup strong coffee
  • 3/4 cup milk dairy or plant-based
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • 1 pinch salt optional

Method
 

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it foams and turns golden brown, then remove from heat.
  2. Stir in the maple syrup until fully combined with the brown butter.
  3. Heat the milk in a separate saucepan until warm but not boiling, then froth until foamy.
  4. Brew the espresso or strong coffee and pour into your favorite mug.
  5. Mix the maple brown butter mixture into the espresso.
  6. Top with the frothed milk and optionally drizzle more maple syrup or sprinkle cinnamon on top.
