Prepare the Dough
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, beaten egg, and melted butter.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Fold in the shredded cheese until evenly distributed.
Bake the Bread
- Pour the dough into a greased loaf pan.
- Sprinkle the top with additional shredded cheese and dried herbs if using.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
