- In a skillet over medium-low heat, add a tablespoon of butter and sliced onions. Cook for 20-25 minutes until golden and caramelized. Set aside.
- In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Chill until ready to use.
- Form the ground beef into 4 oval patties, season with salt and pepper. Cook in a skillet over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side. Set aside.
- Spread secret sauce on one side of each bread slice. Layer with cheese, beef patty, onions, and another slice of cheese. Top with another bread slice.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook sandwiches 3-4 minutes per side until bread is golden and cheese is melted. Serve hot.
