Ingredients
  

  • 2/3 cup whole milk Warm (100 to 110F) helps activate the yeast.

  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour Provides structure and texture to the rolls.
  • 1 large egg Enhances richness and moisture in the dough.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Balances the sweetness of the rolls.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened Adds flavor and tenderness to the dough.
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter For greasing and adding richness in layers.
  • 4-6 tablespoons heavy cream Creates a luscious filling texture.
  • 4 tablespoons brown or white sugar Adjust quantity to your liking for sweetness in the filling.
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder Infuses deep chocolate flavor into the filling.
  • 1-2 teaspoons instant coffee powder Enhances the chocolate flavor with a coffee kick.
  • 100 grams semi-sweet or dark chocolate Chopped chocolate or chocolate chips for melty goodness inside.
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream For making a smooth icing on top.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Sweetens and thickens the icing beautifully.
  • 1/2 teaspoon instant coffee powder Adds an extra hint of espresso flavor to the icing.
  • 2-4 tablespoons heavy cream Depending on how thick you want the icing.

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast, then let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt, then add the yeast mixture along with an egg and softened butter; mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic; place in an oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise until doubled in size.
  4. In another bowl, mix melted butter, cream, sugar, cocoa powder, instant coffee powder, and chopped chocolate; set aside until ready to use.
