Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef 80/20 Choose a good quality beef for optimal flavor and texture.
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic Fresh garlic adds depth to the overall taste.
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil This brings in a nutty aroma and richness.
  • 0.5 cup ketchup A classic base ingredient that balances sweetness and acidity.
  • 0.5 cup hoisin sauce Adds a sweet and salty complexity to the sliders.
  • 0.5 cup water Helps blend the flavors together smoothly.
  • 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce Enhances the umami flavor without excessive saltiness.
  • 1 tablespoon rice apple vinegar Provides a tangy note to cut through the richness.
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha Infuses heat and spice into the mix.
  • 2 green onions sliced For garnish and fresh crunch on top of your sliders.
  • 8 pieces sweet Hawaiian slider buns Soft and slightly sweet buns complement the filling perfectly.
  • 1 cup broccoli slaw Adds crunch and nutrients to balance the sliders.
  • 1 tablespoon peanuts Chopped peanuts give a delightful crunch as a topping.

Method

  1. Step 1: Cook the Beef - Start by heating a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. This should take about five to seven minutes.
  2. Step 2: Add Aromatics - Once the beef is browned, stir in the minced garlic and sesame oil. Cook for an additional two minutes until fragrant.
  3. Step 3: Create Sauce Mixture - In a bowl, combine ketchup, hoisin sauce, water, soy sauce, rice apple vinegar, and sriracha. Mix well until combined then pour this sauce over the cooked beef.
  4. Step 4: Simmer Together - Reduce the heat to medium-low and let everything simmer together for about ten minutes. This allows all those incredible flavors to meld beautifully.
  5. Step 5: Prepare Slider Buns - While waiting for the mixture to simmer, slice your Hawaiian buns in half horizontally. Toast them lightly on a skillet or in a toaster if desired for added texture.
  6. Step 6: Assemble Your Sliders - Once everything is cooked through and heated nicely, spoon generous portions of the beef mixture onto each bun half. Top with sliced green onions, broccoli slaw, and chopped peanuts before placing on top bun halves to serve hot!
