  • 2 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup pastina
  • 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese optional

Method
 

  1. Bring the broth to a gentle simmer in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the pastina and stir well. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted.
  4. Taste and season with salt as needed.
  5. Stir in grated Parmesan if using and serve immediately while hot.
